Question 1

What is a bead pattern generator?

Accepted Answer

A bead pattern generator turns a photo or text into a grid where each cell is one bead. You follow the grid bead-by-bead for custom names, logos, portraits, and gifts, especially bracelets, keychains, and small wall hangings.

Question 2

How do I turn an image into a bead pattern?

Accepted Answer

Open Image to Pattern, choose a PNG or JPG, and Craftseed builds a bead chart with a palette taken from the image. Choose brick stitch, peyote, or square stitch, then adjust colors and size. Processing runs in your browser. Your original photo is stored in your private account only if you choose Save pattern.

Question 3

Can I turn a photo into a bead pattern?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Switch to Image to Pattern, upload a PNG or JPG, and the tool builds a bead pattern with a palette taken from the image. You can recolor beads, change color detail, and set the pattern size.

Question 4

What is a peyote stitch pattern?

Accepted Answer

Even-count flat peyote nests each new bead into the gap between beads of the previous row, so alternating columns sit half a bead lower. Craftseed’s peyote layout shows that stagger in the preview. Open Image to Pattern and select peyote stitch, or read /peyote-pattern-generator.

Question 5

What is a brick stitch pattern?

Accepted Answer

Brick stitch rows sit half a bead offset from each other, like masonry. Craftseed’s brick stitch layout draws that offset into the chart. Open Image to Pattern and select brick stitch, or read /brick-stitch-pattern-generator.

Question 6

What images work best for bead charts?

Accepted Answer

High-contrast photos, logos, and simple illustrations convert most clearly. Very detailed portraits usually need a larger grid or lower color detail so the chart stays stitchable. Transparent PNGs are placed on a white background.

Question 7

Which bead weaving techniques are supported?

Accepted Answer

You can choose square stitch, brick stitch, or even-count flat peyote. In Image to Pattern, switch stitch style in the chart controls so the preview matches how beads stagger for brick or peyote. Text to Pattern uses square-stitch charts (even rows and columns), which also suit bead loom work.

Question 8

Can I make a bead loom pattern?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Square-stitch charts use even rows and columns, which is the same grid loom weavers follow. Use Text to Pattern for names and phrases, or Image to Pattern with square stitch for a photo. More detail is on /bead-loom-pattern-generator.

Question 9

Can I print or save my pattern?

Accepted Answer

Use the live bead grid as your chart at the bead mat. You can zoom the preview on screen or use your browser’s print dialog to print the page while you work.

Question 10

How do I choose the right font size?

Accepted Answer

Font size is the height of each letter in beads (about 5–20). Letter width follows each character. Smaller sizes fit short phrases on bracelets; larger sizes work well for keychains, wall hangings, and bold statement pieces.

Question 11

What do the Layout controls do?

Accepted Answer

Font size sets letter height in beads. Side border adds empty bead columns on the left and right. Top & bottom border adds empty bead rows above and below the text. Space between words sets bead columns between words, and is only editable when there are multiple words in one row. Space between lines sets extra bead rows between lines, and is only editable when your text has more than one line (use Enter for a new line).

Question 12

Which letters and characters work?

Accepted Answer

The generator is built for Latin letters (A–Z), numbers, and common punctuation across letter heights of about 5–20 beads.
